a) how for does the water drop in moving 1m horizontally?
b) how far does it travel before dropping a vertical distance of 1cm?

The horizontal motion is independent of the vertical motion.

It takes 1/5 sec to move 1 m and the dist = 1/2 g t^2 where g = 9.8 m/s^2

dist = 0.196 m

and conversely

1 cm = 1/2 g t^2 = or t = root(0.02/g) = 0.04517 sec

d = 0.04517 * 5/m sec = 0.22587 m
